A 24-year-old Griffith man will face ACT Magistrates Court this morning (Friday, September 6) after being arrested in relation to an alleged robbery Wednesday morning.

About 1.30am the victim was assaulted at Stuart Flats, Griffith. A number of items were stolen, including the keys to the victim’s vehicle. The man suffered head injuries, and was transported to Calvary Hospital for treatment.

The following night, the victim’s vehicle was stolen from his home residence.

About 5pm yesterday afternoon, police located the stolen vehicle at Stuart Flats. Police conducted a search of a nearby residence, after which the man was arrested and transported to the ACT Watch House.

Police will oppose bail.

Stuart Flats are a carbuncle on the collective bum – and a carbuncle with particularly stupid bacteria inside.

I may have mentioned before the story of my neighbour’s car being stolen from his home following a burglary (in Narrabundah) a while back. He just hopped in his wife’s car, drove the 1.5km to Stuart Flats, and sure enough, there it was.

So he called the cops, and got his car (and some of his stuff) back. The dropkick who did it got yet another suspended sentence to add to his already impressive list, by promising to be good in future. Some of our magistrates and judges are even dumber than the crims they sentence, it seems …

Should make them live there. After being assaulted and having their belongings stolen a few times I’d guarantee you’d see a miraculous change in sentencing.
