Twenty Minutes With The Devil: By Luis Gómez Romero & Desmond Manderson

Part thriller, part black comedy, this play is inspired by events leading to the capture of El Chapo, Mexico’s most notorious drug lord, in 2016. But Twenty Minutes With The Devil transcends its original context, opening instead onto a world that is everywhere and nowhere in an idiom at once strange and familiar. Directed by the head of The Street Theatre, it asks vital questions about law, politics and justice in the modern world.

The Plunge: Expectations

The Plunge is a popular event of true stories. Participants are required to share a story related to the theme ‘expectations’. Sign up and share your most embarrassing, humorous, sad or brave story. All stories must be true and from your own experiences. Notes are allowed, but no props, and you must keep it under six minutes. It’s at the lovely Highroad cafe in Dickson.

The Sydney Symphony is in town for one special night with a performance of music by the Great Romantics. The concert opens with Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, following a journey from tyranny to kindness, including Bruch’s Violin Concerto No 1, one of the most beautiful pieces of violin music. The evening culminates with a sense of patriotism and joy through Dvorák’s Symphony No 8. The orchestra will be conducted by Roger Benedict with solo violin by Andrew Haveron.
