You’re driving along your usual route home when a sinking feeling suddenly hits. Did you remember to pay your rego and insurance?

It’s an issue business owners know all too well – with so many pieces in the company puzzle, it’s easy to leave one out.

But a new software solution has gripped local businesses, ensuring they’ll never miss a renewal date again.

Manage My Renewals (MMR) is the brainchild of Canberran entrepreneur Deb Thomas.

“Over three decades in business, I’ve seen the same thing time and again – most SMEs don’t have an effective process in place for renewal management,” Deb says.

“Many businesses rely on manual reminders, which can easily get lost in the busy workplace.

“With this in mind, I decided to build a system that would automate the renewal process, improve efficiency, and minimise risk for small business owners.”

Having worked collaboratively with bookkeepers for much of her career, Deb’s software also helps add value to any bookkeeping service.

MMR partners with bookkeepers and accounting firms including industry leader RSM Financial Services Australia, to help them manage clients’ renewal payments effectively.

MMR is the first program of its kind in Australia.

Any payment, subscription or registration can be entered into the software and tracked automatically – but it’s more than just a reminder system.

“You can attach and send paperwork to contractors or compliance officers, provide clients with access to certain reports, track cash flow and more,” Deb says.

“Consider your business and have a think about every payment that needs to be managed over the month or year – if it has an expiry date, we can track it.”

It’s an offering that works for any industry: farming, trades, property, health, technology, retail, hospitality, transport and more.

“I have seen companies with staff on the road unregistered and e-commerce platforms with websites down because they haven’t renewed their domain name.

“These are simple fixes, but they have a huge effect on company cash flow and management stress,” Deb says.

It all boils down to reducing risk, building confidence and freeing up business owners’ time for bigger, better things.

“There are a lot of people out there running a business largely on their own,” she says.

“They don’t need the stress that comes with remembering 20 or 30 different renewal payments throughout the month or year …

“And they certainly shouldn’t be paying late fees that could have easily been avoided – that’s where Manage My Renewals takes the reins.”

Small and medium-sized businesses in Australia can subscribe to Manage My Renewals for less than $30 per month and have access to a 30-day free trial. Find out more here.

Bob the impala has a good point – that will be their big pitch to potential investors as a start up ‘we can monetise the data’!

Should make it clearer that this is a paid ad

Clever Interrobang, it does say “Regional Media Partner Content” on a bright orange background, and includes a commercial link at the end of the article. Are you looking for a pulsating yellow banner across the top? A personal e-mail saying “Don’t take everything you read at face value”?

It might be interesting to know what is in the privacy policy. I can imagine that a harvest of business activities and timings such as is discussed above might have potential to be monetised, just like similar data collection on individuals.

Reading this article, it seemed like copy for an ad – then I saw the footer “REGION MEDIA PARTNER CONTENT”.

As TruthinMedia explains, renewals can easily be entered into a shared calendar as a task, so that all relevant staff get a reminder and whoever takes responsibility can tick the task … doesn’t need yet another app.

Or you can do what we do in our business and personal lives and have it all on direct debit for regular payments (even annual ones like domain name registrations) and use the cross platform calendars on our tech for reminders for ad hoc payments. As far as I can tell you still have to enter information into this software which is all we do with the calendar where we have a variant set up for payments. Cash flow etc we track through the services and reports offered by our bank.
