By johnboy - 20 April 2012 6

This in from our friends at the ABC on tonight’s show.

Friday April 20th

1. Aldo Cataldo’s Block – Canberra property developers are crying poor .. The ACT Government has radically upped the fees they pay when they apply to change land use zoning in order to build lucrative apartment blocks.

2. Murray Darling – the submissions to the enquiry are in – the fate of the river system rests with the politicians.

3. Cup Cake Cure – Five years ago, Sharon Mitchell from Jazz Apple ended up in hospital, almost dead from alcoholic seizures – since then she’s been through de-tox, overcome her fears, learnt to fly a plane, written a book – and put the icing on many a cup cake.

4. Mother’s Other Son – Actor, Henri Szeps plays all the parts he’s never been given.

5. Silversun – reprising a short comic ad promoting Canberra.

Autumn Closer – Music Van Morrison “Autumn Days”

Sorry I missed the story on property developers doing it tough …. always makes my heart bleed a little…

A friend of mine has spent the last 10 years working on a property subdivision. Everybody has mode buckets of cash out of it (the council, the subcontractors putting in roads, drainage and landscaping, the banks lending the money) and he’s going to be lucky to break even.
He blames the government taxes and council fees for making it not worth his while. Look forward to less development, fewer new houses, and ever-increasing house prices as a result.

Fair point!

That said, if people don’t develop property, where will our growing population live?

it’s us the final consumers who pay for increases in fees for developers, do you really think they are taking a pay cut. No they just pass the sh#t down the line.

Ew – Sharon Mitchell cooking without her hair tied back. Where are the Food Outlet Police and their Red Sign?

I didn’t see this story but I’ve seen some really silly things, why do they think letting a tv crew wander around the kitchen with a reporter dipping her hand in everything is okay? There was one recently at the Easter Show I think it was, the reporter strolled around sampling this and helping cook that.
