Just in from our friends at the ABC:

1. The Budget – The Treasurer trying to shore up the ACT in preparation for an Abbott Government.

2. The War of the Willows – whilst the ACT is spending millions eradicating numbers of willow species, a few farmers are risking the wrath of their neighbours in order to plant them.

3. Aimee’s Addiction – only four months after an overdose following years of alcohol addiction, Aimee Zardo is in recovery and working to help others – through the Salvation Army Recovery Program. A former New York singer/song writer, she tells a compelling story.

4. Differing Perspectives – closer – the work of two up and coming, edgy artists – Dean Butters and Natalie Mather. Music by Daft Punk.

re War of the Willows – I congratulate the Marshalls for looking to Peter Andrews’ rehabilitation/restoration techniques which are so effective in stabilising degraded and unstable land and creating pristine waterways.
Would that the Southern ACT Catchment Group paid attention to these techniques and were open to asking Peter Andrews (Order of Australia) to come and look at the evident problems of the Tuggeranong Lake foreshore (given that most of Canberra is old farmland and very disturbed/sensitive). Peter Andrews does this very thing all around Australia – see his natural sequence farming website, and background info below.

The proof is in the pudding.

I thought the piece on addiction was rather good, and should be seen by many more people than are likely to be watching the ABC at that time on a Friday night:

Re the first item, I take it that the grand strategy for the ACT Budget is to blame Abbott for the (eventual) non-appearance of a surplus which was never going to happen anyway.
