This week on 7.30 ACT

By johnboy 9 August 2013 2

This just in from our friends at the ABC:

1. DAY 5 – the election campaign. Heather Ewart.

2. BIGGEST ESTATE – the popular series First Footprints has renewed interest in Australian Indigenous history. Canberra author Bill Gammage featured on the program.
He spoke with Craig Allen about the local landscape and how it would have looked before white settlement.

3. CANBERRA: THEN AND NOW – a book of photos with text by poet Geoff Page. Each early photo is juxtaposed against a current one of the same location.

4. LETTING OFF STEAM – Canberra’s steam train enthusiasts take our crew for a ride.

5. REMEMBER HIROSHIMA – Closer – exhibition at the High Court remembering the bombings of Hiroshima (August 6th) and Nagasaki (August 9th)

Letting Off Steam was great. The epitome of local interest.
Great positve comment by Alan Gardener, “I want to showcase Canberra”.
We need lots of Alan Gardners in Canberra.

Another nice effort from the local 7.30 team.

I may have misheard, but I don’t think Chris mentioned Eden Monaro when he was talking about local election campaign coverage – even if it is no longer THE bellwether seat, it should still be an interesting contest, and potentially important if things are close again. I assume NSW 7.30 will be obsessing about the Sydney seats, so Eden Monaro should get local coverage.
