Three young males try to rob elderly couple near Lake Tuggeranong College

Three young males attempted to rob an elderly couple walking near the basketball courts at Lake Tuggeranong College last Wednesday afternoon.

Police have identified the alleged offenders and two will appear in the ACT Children’s Court tomorrow (June 18).

ACT Policing said the elderly couple were walking on a bike path around Lake Tuggeranong about 4:30 pm last Wednesday (June 13) when they were approached by three juvenile males who had their faces covered.

One of the males produced a knife and demanded a wallet and mobile phone from one of the victims. The victim refused and the juveniles ran away in the direction of the skate park.

Police are seeking witnesses to the attempted aggravated robbery.

The three juveniles are described as:

  • male 1: slim build wearing a dark coloured beanie, a grey hooded jumper and dark coloured pants
  • male 2: large build wearing a red hooded jumper and dark coloured pants
  • male 3: slim build wearing a hooded jumper.

Investigations are ongoing and police are calling for witnesses or anyone who has information in relation to this incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information can also be provided via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.

What I am wondering is how old “elderly couple’ is. Is it 80, or 60, 40? This often depends on the age of the person reporting this.

They probably couldn’t find any old people at Gungahlin where they probably came from.
