ACT Policing’s Crime Targeting Team has arrested a 19-year-old male for a robbery in Wanniassa last month (March 14).

Around 10.10pm on Monday, March 14, two men were walking along McBryde Crescent Wanniassa when they were approached by a silver coloured Honda Civic.

A male got out of the rear of the vehicle and asked to use the men’s mobile phones. One of the men produced a mobile phone and the offender asked the other man to empty his pockets. The male offender took property from both men and then struck one of the men rendering him unconscious.

Following several lines of enquiry, police followed a red Mazda 3 sedan along Johnson Drive in Isabella Plains yesterday afternoon. Police stopped the vehicle on Keverstone Avenue and spoke to the 19-year-old male passenger. He was subsequently arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House.

The man was charged with robbery and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.

This is sad to know this type of things are happening in our beautiful city. how sad. It certainly makes me feel unsafe as I often go for a long walks alone.
may be I should use treadmill instead
Please go in pairs if walking somewhere if you can. or take your dog with you and a stick. Do not stop for strangers for telling them directions or telling them time or giving them any change.

If they are driving, they can find directions from anywhere else.

Better safe than sorry.

Shame that we have to be like this due to some unkind and inconsiderate people. I always think what about if this person is genuine and I am not helping them due to my doubts.

I was rubbed a considerable cash by some one who asked me to give him cash for cheque. There are lots of ways people are out there to rub you. Con artists always out smart simple people.

You just have to save yourself. awful to think that way.

It’s a sad comment on the state of the world, but I view anybody who approaches me in the street as a potential assailant, and prepare for the worst. If nothing happens no harm is done.

Allowing hoodlums to get into a position where they can assault you by surprise isn’t good for your health.

A bit extreme. The world ain’t that scary. Be alert, not alarmed 😉

Are ACT Policing trying to tell us something here other than the obvious. The mention of the red Mazda 3 and the silver Honda are very specific.

Reading between the lines is a handy skill.

That would be Keverstone Circuit I think but it sounds like a good bit of Police Work nonetheless, Congrats to the people responsible and let’s hope the courts back up the hard work.
