Yeah, thanks. I just roll my eyes at others’ (ab)use of the term, but I figure it just ain’t worth mentioning.

I go to about ten or so festivals a year and the last determining criterion for me is the lineup. On one hand, performances can almost be incidental to the experience of the event itself. And on the other, some of the best experiences are just blundering into acts I’ve never seen or heard of before.

As Dan says above, there are 100 acts and all of the myriad other elements that make up this festival that will make it worth it. I go to many festivals where some people don’t even bother with a program, as they make all their own entertainment based around campsites.

For those who sat on their hands waiting for information about a line-up, that’s your prerogative, but it’s cost you an extra $30.

(I’m not involved with Corinbank and didn’t go this year, but plan to get to most of it this time around.)

Love your work…..Keep them coming.

Congrats on the commendation for Best Festival/Event Danw, Last year was the best first year festival i have ever been to. Actually its probably one of the best festival i have ever been to in general.

Keep up the good work 🙂

that’s an awful lot of money just to see Saga. Must be really superior mud, the best.

Thanks DanW, I love the personal touch! I’ll get that kissing booth ready!

They need a seperate and defined area for that, right near the freakshows and strongwomen?

I sense I am missing something here.

Keep up the good work Dan! I missed out last year…despite having a media pass, I did send along a photographer though who got some great pics. Sounded like a fantastic festival & I’m sure it’ll be even better this year. I won’t miss it this time…& thanks to kids under 16 being free, my 11yo is going to experience his first proper music festival too.

G’day H1NGO and all,

Festival Director Dan here.

1st round Line-up will be announced 11 December, with 2nd and 3rd round line-ups being announced between then and the festival.

Pre-release is, I’m afraid, sold out (it did so in under 2 days). Blueberry, you’re spot on – we released them to thank our “regulars” which, after only 1 year, we’re very luck to already have – thanks to all of you for your strong show of support for the local music and arts community!

1st release, which are open now, are still fairly cheap at $119.

Here’s a shopping list for you H1NGO – everything listed below IS INCLUDED in the ticket price:
– Over 100 artist and bands on multiple stages over three days
– The Carnivale – Full 1920s sideshow circus with kid friendly circus by day, then freakshows, strong women, bouffant clowns, and a Heavy Petting Zoo by night
– Installation art (such as interactive percussion gardens and massive sculptures) scattered all round the site, including arts workshops from the artists themselves.
– Mountain bike tours with Canberra Bike Hire (with all gear provided) from the festival site to your own private waterfall, and a shuttle bus ride back up to the festival.
– Watersliding.
– Green Kulture village with over 30 participating environmental and community groups running free workshops, bird identification walks, tree propogating workshops, water critter explorations for the kids and heaps more.
– Guided hikes to nearby Square Rock.
– Hands-on kids circus workshops
– Camping (if you want) with hot showers – BTW – We spent about 6months last year manicuring the camp grounds: raking away the little stones; sowing grass; we even went as far as terracing areas that we thought were too steep to camp on (and they were no where near as steep as any slope at Falls Fest!)
– What’s shaping up to be a massive Creative Camps program – H1NGO this is where YOU create an activity or give something to everyone else at the festival – I reckon you’re the type to set up something like a kissing booth! 🙂 But let you imagination go wild mate!
– Plus heaps and heaps and heaps more stuff on the burner that will all hit our website over the coming month

– Oh yeah and we have bands
– …and if it rains we have mud – bring yer wellies and lap it up 🙂 !

We’re all nursing hang overs today. It’s been a great week for Corinbank. Last night we were commended in the Best Festival/Event category of the ACT and Region Tourism awards. Not bad for a first year festival, I think you’ll agree.

Hope to see you up there on the first weekend of March.

Dan

Yes! They’ve got MUD!

No worries mate

>Why would you want tickets to a festival that has no announced bands? Seems a bit wierd. As for Darren Hanlon, I’d rather puncture my ear drums with a blunt object than to listen to his amateurish pop compositions. That is my personal opinion of course.

When it is not just a music festival. Have look on the web site Corinbank is about a lot more than just music.

Also Lots of festivals offer pre-sale tickets before their lineup is announced as a way to thank their regulars who like the festival and will go each year no matter what bands are on. If you are unsure if you will want to go due to the line up you are more than welcome to wait until it comes out and not take advantage of the cheep pre-sale price/ free prize.

is that picture a packet of Corinbank chewing gum?

I heard a rumour that Saga are re-forming for this event.

Don’t mean to offend Johnboy, I simply thought I was missing something as I couldn’t find any lineup on the website. I didn’t realise they were cheaper presale tickets. My bad. I look forward to hearing the linup in the future. From all reports, last years festival sounded great (if a bit cold!).

Tickets to what exactly? I’m not saying it is a bad festival, just noting that if you exact people to go to this event, you might want to explain exactly what will be there. I don’t go shopping for groceries without a shopping list you know?

Like JB says its the Festival. Darren Hanlon is just one who used to include Canberra in his tours and doesn’t seem to anymore (AFAIK) I’m not a fan, I live with someone who is.

Diversity is always good. I’m all for bands I don’t like playing as long as there are bands that I do like, one needs to involve in other activities and a non-stop must see band after band doesn’t work for me like it did when I was in my twenties

Metal for the Brain was another festival that now its no longer on, has seen bands who might of played here no longer doing so, so if we can participate and get a regular event that rounds out some of our boring image as a city that has to be a good thing.

Its an option – buy for the festival and pay less, buy after the line-up and pay more.

Fine H1NG0, you don’t want the tickets. Noted. Now bugger off. Many others do.

Why would you want tickets to a festival that has no announced bands? Seems a bit wierd. As for Darren Hanlon, I’d rather puncture my ear drums with a blunt object than to listen to his amateurish pop compositions. That is my personal opinion of course.

There’s no single act worth going to a three day festival just to see.

Go for the festival is my advice. I understand the lineup is coming out soon.

Didn’t the earlier post, point out the the cheaper “pre-release” tickets were on the basis of the line-up not being announced.

Given that so many Aust acts now bypass Canberra (Kate MH, Darren Hanlon etc) but played last year you might be able to guess that it could be your once a year chance to see them somewhere vaguely local.

Is it me or is there no lineup for this festival?
