Chief Minister Stanhope is celebrating a boom in visitors to the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve.

“This year has bought with it great results as the number of visitors to Tidbinbilla has more than doubled, Tidbinbilla has become an increasingly popular destination for the community and visitors to the region.

Mr Stanhope said a total of 182,479 visitors entered the nature reserve in 2009/10 which was an increase of 94,371 visitors from 2008/09.

“The increase in visitor numbers has enabled Tidbinbilla to invest the generated revenue from entry fees, back into maintaining and improving the reserve and its conservation measures, creating a more enjoyable experience for visitors,” Mr Stanhope said.

Hurrah!

We bought an annual pass for $20.

If anyone wants to borrow it we charge $2 day.

We’re $28 up.

Wow! A year with its own budget… what a shame previous years couldn’t afford to buy what this year bought!

Also a shame the Chief Minister hasn’t bought a literate person to write his media releases… maybe if they bought some more teachers the talent pool would be a bit deeper.

Maybe if ability was the main qualification rather than handing jobs out to party hacks?

Are there actually BBQ’s in the park itself?
I love BBQ’s and I love driving so can’t think of a better destination to cook up a feed while enjoying the scenery.

Tidbinbilla is great. So many lovely BBQ spots and the animal Sancturay makes for a lovely Sunday stroll. Also the volunteers there are just great, all so lovely. One of the best places around Canberra to go for an outing.

I enjoy visiting Tidbinbilla and it’s been a long hard road back from the bushfires.
They have done well, restoring amenities and now have a good playground and barbeque area.

I think they should install more facilities at all the other stopping points in the park and also place larger, clearer signage at each carpark, showing the walking trails that can be accessed at each carpark.
