Todd Carney writes off his career

Todd Carney was in an interesting place over the weekend.

The Raiders were wavering on his counter-offer (to accept all their conditions except a playing ban), and a large chunk of the public had received his open letter rather well.

So what does he do? Return to Goulburn, get on the grog and get kicked out of the Goulburn Workers’ Club.

If you made this stuff up people would say it lacked credibility.

The SMH has the story but I believe our local WIN was responsible for breaking it.

I don’t think any media said Todd had been drinking at the Workers.

I think it’d dumb readers and viewers which have blown the issue out of proportion.

So how much has Raiders management paid you Choco? At least they didn’t write your statement!

i was present in the workers club when this all happened carney was as sober as a judge! ive lived in goulburn all my life and this town is all about stabbing ppl in the back and giving ppl shit and trying to start fights over nothing!! take it from someone who knows its a one nightspot town everyone goes to the same place and everynight without a doubt there is a fight! todd has alot of friends back here in goulburn and friends that stand by him! he does have a family problem at the moment that not many people no about and i must say its not the best at the moment for him. so lets stick to the facts and not media beat ups! if i was him i wouldnt wanna stay in canberra with all these idiots having a go at him! i hope he goes somewhere else to play because let me tell you this kid has a shit load more potential then hes shown at this point in time! everyone has a rough time in life at some point! dont they?? let the kid iron out his problems first it dont happen over night but im confident it will happen. and just for the record im not a family member or a close friend of todd we say g day when we see each other and thats it! but ive known him long enough to say he will be a superstar in this game in the future! yours truly choco

Interesting. Beat up or not, I think if I was under this much scrutiny, and I was out with my “mates”, and one of them was being a moron, I’d tell him to shut the hell up, or I’d go somewhere else.

Meanwhile, I bet his manager is tearing his/her hair out, and telling him to go and play Nintendo for a few weeks.

I’m assuming that you’re talking about the Nintendo Wii?

Zing!

“. He just didn’t want Todd in there because people were going to try to stir him up.”

All the more reason why Todd should be avoiding pubs/clubs like the plague at the moment.

Then if he is ditched, this incident shouldn’t be part of the reason for it. There’s enough reason already.

The other side of the story: (Fairfax)

Chris Anthony was celebrating his 50th birthday with a group of people including Carney when his son, Mitch, was involved in a fight on Saturday night at the Goulburn Workers Club – just hours after an impassioned plea by Carney to be spared the axe over previous misdemeanours.

“I’m sick of people flinging mud at the kid that’s just not true,” Chris Anthony said. “It’s a load of crap what’s been reported. He had a couple of beers, that’s all. He wasn’t drunk, he’s not that stupid.

“Give him some credit. The kid’s no angel and he’s had some troubles, but the thing on Saturday is a load of crap and the mud is sticking.

“They walked into the club and some bloke’s just gone past and stared at Todd, just trying to stir him up. Mitch just stepped in and said, ‘Go away, we don’t want any dramas.’ The bouncer has just over-reacted. He just didn’t want Todd in there because people were going to try to stir him up.”

Raiders should dump him, dump him and dump him. Not so much for this incident but for his stance since being given the 5 point plan.

Then the NRL will deregister him and he’ll go to play Super League or Union in Europe, thus filling in a spot in a team that would have otherwise poached one of Australia’s other (less douchebag) stars.

This is the biggest media beatup ever. I think Carney is an idiot but he shouldn’t be instigated for something he was just present for but had nothing to do with.

Sounds like the alcohol ban’s going well then….

; )

He’s pissing his career up the wall (or has that joke been done?)

If WIN was the one that caused this then that’s the building we’ll all go and piss on!!!

CARNEY STYLEZ!

They’re not even that cool when they look just like ten million other peoples’ tats.

Note to the kids:

Tats might be cool but they make you stand out like dogs nuts.

He really needs to buy some fake ears and a moustache to wear when he goes out on the grog. That’d fix all the problems.

Or to show some leadership at the slightest sign of trouble.

To be fair, he didn’t actually do anything and wasn’t actually kicked out of the club. One of his party was asked to leave and when that person refused to do so, the entire group, including Carney, was told to leave, which they did.

A bit of a beat up of a story, but still, if you were currently in a bit of strife regarding alcohol it would make sense to steer clear of the clubs for a while.

He such a naughty boy

Like I said in the last related thread, Carney’s an asshole.
