Minister for Children and Young People Joy Burch is calling for a young person aged 12-25 to nominate to be the ACT representative on the National Planning Group for National Youth Week 2012.

12-25?

A 12 year old isn’t even worried about pimples and barely aware of members of the opposite sex.

A 25 year old can be married with kids and a mortgage, but hey, let’s get some youth on the panel eh?

Younger readers who do want to put their hand up can do so until 27 June on the Youth ACT website.

Engineers Australia have awards for “young” engineers, where “young”, IIRC and I might be off by a couple of years, is defined as being under 35, which really sets a new standard for youthfulness.

50 is the new 30, which is just fine by me. 🙂

12 on the other hand, seems kind of a weird age for this gig. I have two boys aged 13 and 12, and I’m not sure I’d trust them with water pistols at the moment, let alone planning for nationl yoof week.

$10 says the winner will be indigenous or at least belonging to some kind of minority
