This just in from our friends at the ABC who are keen to point out they’ve been doing very many positive stories about Canberra’s history.
- 7.30 ACT Friday March 15th
1. The Birthday – a film made by Jim Trail featuring most of the highlights of Canberra Day celebrations
2. The Foundation Day – 1913 – officiated by Lord and Lady Denman – David Headon tells the story of the Denmans and why the vice royals were so popular with the people and the Labor pollies.
3. Seed Search – an intrepid group set out into the Tinderrry ranges to look for rare plant seeds to propagate at the Botanical Gardens. After lots of diversions along the way – they strike gold ( actually it’s purple)
4. Is Canberra Funny?: Funny enough to support an international comedy festival. Chris Kimball meets some of the jokers
Closer fabulous pics of the celebrations and the balloons by cameraman Greg Nelson … ending with one by our own Adam Shirley which has gone global. (Reddit and Huffington Post amongst others)
