Never lost again!

ANU are releasing an app, iANU.

The new iANU app, featuring an enhanced reality map means ANU staff and students can get lost in books instead of on campus.

An interactive campus map is one of the main features of the new app, which is available for smartphones and tablets, detailing all buildings, roads and services on campus. With the touch of a button the map also transforms into a hand-held virtual compass, showing buildings and distances from your current location. The map works in real-time, moving with you as you move. New students will also find the orientation videos about life on campus useful.

An interactive map? A compass! Works in real-time? Where did they find this space age technology? Wouldn’t anyone with a phone ‘smart’ enough to download this map, already have access to every feature it offers?

I’m sorry, but isn’t enhanced reality a contradiction in terms? Or is it a specific name for certain types of graphics?

Hardly. There are a lot of real things I’d like enhanced!

Bravo, very droll!

Shame they didn’t call it ANU-S for ANU Seeker.
