Jane Austen Festival Australia is an annual celebration in Canberra where Austen and Napoleonic fans from all over Australia come and indulge themselves in everything Regency – including dancing, music, food, games, archery, fencing, theatre, promenades, grand balls, talks, workshops, costumes and books. Since its inception in 2008 this little festival has blossomed into one of the most delightful weekend anyone could experience each April in an old and beautiful part of Canberra, the Federal capital of Australia.

Marco Polo Jr Versus The Red Dragon

Meet the marvellous Cam Ford, a great animator as well as a great storyteller. Cam was one of the sequence directors on Marco Polo Jr versus the Red Dragon. Amongst many other stellar tales, Cam will transport you back to swinging London and his time working on psychedelic wonder The Yellow Submarine in a similarly psychedelic animation studio in 1960s Soho.The discussion will be followed by a screening of Marco Polo Jr versus the Red Dragon. Letter Translations: A guided workshop in the (nearly) lost art of correspondence

Join the writers at Ms Constance Spry’s Letter Writing Service as they navigate you through the limitless creative expression that is letter writing. This hour-long introduction course goes through the basics of letter forms and the usage of fabulous terms from a not so distant past. Everybody leaves with a letter of their own creation, sprinkled with a bit of Ms Spry magic.
PULL A PRINT at the National Arboretum

The National Arboretum and Megalo Print Studio + Gallery have teamed up to offer a Bonsai inspired screen printing workshop this Saturday! This is a free drop-in activity suitable for all ages, with all materials and instruction provided by Megalo. Curious to see more? Over the past year 5 Bonsai artists and 5 emerging printmakers have been working together at the Megalo Print Studio + Gallery to create work for an exhibition BONSAI PRINT now showing at Megalo until 30 April 2016.

The University of Canberra (UC), in collaboration with Canberra Museum and Gallery, and the Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Material (AICCM) is celebrating the 2016 ACT Heritage Festival with an afternoon of practical conservation tips and tricks, led by local Canberra conservation experts. So bring your favourite portable objects and heirlooms to CMAG and get some expert advice from UC and AICCM conservators.

Marianne’s puppets will also invite family members to create take-home masterpieces.
