ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an incident early this afternoon (Friday, May 17) in which a man seriously assaulted a 52-year-old female receptionist and ransacked a professional office looking for cash and drugs.

Police were called to the professional office suites in Grattan Court, Erindale, around 12.40pm today after it was reported that a man had entered the office and demanded both drugs and money.

When he was told that neither was held on the premises, he savagely assaulted the office receptionist.

He then ransacked the offices and finding no cash, stole two cheques and then fled on foot.

The offender is described as of Middle Eastern appearance, aged in his mid-20s.

He is clean-shaven, about 5’7” (170cm) in height, and with a solid build.

He was wearing a red jumper, and a black baseball cap which had a red-coloured underside. He also had sunglasses on the cap.

Detective Sergeant John Giles, from Criminal Investigations, said he deplored this offender’s cowardly attack and urged anyone who may have seen the offender enter or leave the offices in Garran Court, or may have seen him in the immediate area around the time of the robbery, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.

Presumably the private healthcare centre, which I’m forever confusing with the public one at the same plaza.

My wife’s 52 years old, and I can look at her and envision the results of something like this happening to her. Lifelong trauma for her, me and our kids, to start with.

I’m no spring chicken myself, but I would cheerfully, enthusiastically, even gleefully, have a good go at assaulting a bloke who’d “savagely” beat a 52 year old woman.

When the cops use a word like that, it can’t be good. My heart goes out to this poor innocent lady, and I wish her well.

It’s a medical precinct; pathology, imaging, dentist. Some of them would have drugs on the premisis you’d think. Would be a shame to think the idiot crim went into the wrong type of place.

What kind of office is this?
