A jaunty Chief Minister is letting you all know “Tours acquaint commuters with Belco bus stations”
The new Belconnen Bus Stations will be showcased this weekend during free tours of the facilities which includes six new bus platforms, an indoor waiting lounge and outdoor bus shelters, Chief Minister and Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Jon Stanhope, announced today.
Mr Stanhope said the free familiarisation tours to showcase the newly upgraded Bus Stations would take place between 11:30am and 4pm on Saturday 13 November 2010 and during the Belconnen Community Festival.
“Improvements to the Belconnen Bus Stations and newly extended Cohen street will see the area become fully operational from Monday 15 November 2010 as ACTION’s Network 10 timetable commences, Mr Stanhope said.
“The Westfield Bus Station off Lathlain Street integrates with the new entrance of the shopping centre,”
“Patrons can look forward to a welcoming indoor waiting lounge, new amenities and two large outdoor bus shelters with capacity to seat up to 120 patrons. Adjoining cafes will open in Westfield Belconnen in coming months.
“Commuters to and from the Belconnen Community Bus shelter will benefit from six new platforms with increased weather protection.
Mr Stanhope said all buses travelling into and out of the Belconnen City Centre would travel through each of the new Westfield and Belconnen Community Bus Stations and the existing Cohen Street Bus Station.
