Tours of the new Belconnen Bus facilities

Seven new (and unsynchronised) traffic lights in a single square kilometre. Does anyone else think this is overkill for Belconnen?

“The Westfield Bus Station off Lathlain Street integrates with the new entrance of the shopping centre,”

Ummm, no John. It doesn’t. There is a dog leg for the buses that has required a set of traffic lights to be added on Lathlain Street just 20m away from the other new set of traffic lights. Which in turn is 50m from another set of traffic lights. Which is 50m away from another set. Which is….(you get the idea).

And while I am on the topic of traffic works in Belconnen, did we really have to lose a lane on the west-bound Gininderra drive for a bike path…which is already next to a bike path? And has anyone noticed that slip lanes are getting smaller and smaller. I could not believe when they reduced the size of the slip lane from Coulter drive onto the east-bound Belconnen Way. All this has done is increase congestion for no sensible reason.

So? How are the new bus services? Is anyone catching the bus today?

Interesting report. The photos do indeed show a total lack of shelter for people waiting outside.

I’ve cancelled my weekend plans to go for a tour of the new bus stop.

Someone had better christen it with a ‘RIP Mully’ tag.

Why would you need a tour of some bus stops? Point at the information of which buses depart from each stop, point at the shelters and say sit there to wait for the bus that will be late or never come. End tour.

A free guided tour of the Belco bus station. I will hardly be able to sleep, such will be the anticipation with which I await this glorious event.
