car v tree

Basketcase has sent in this striking pair of images from Holt with an observation:

Found this car in Starke St, Holt. Not a soul in sight, had to wonder how it ended up there.. The air bags had been activated.

It has now been moved but looking at the tree, I was surprised at how little damage the tree suffered.

They might have been trying to avoid the enormous kangaroo I saw bouncing down Starke St on Tuesday evening (depending on when the picture was taken). The roo was jumping on and off the road and heading in the direction where this happened.

Would this have anything to do with the police chase through Holt at about 2am this morning?

Least effective way to knock down a tree

Anyone want to wager that the driver was texting while driving?

Trees aren’t designed to crumple to protect their occupants though. I’d be surprised if the car’s speed at impact was greater than 60km/h.

A lot less then 60 I’d say. At lesst by the time they hit the tree. Swervi g and stomping the brakes will slow you. I wonder what they swerved to miss?
