Treehouse. $10 lunch review

treehouse lamb shank

Following a hot tip Nancy Porker and I ventured to Treehouse for lunch today.

Getting there at the dot of 12 it was looking very swish, very empty and a little intimidating.

But I went inside, the staff were extremely friendly and I ordered a pint of Little Creature’s Rogers while I waited.

The first shock. The pint cost $6. $6 for a Western Australian craft beer. A pint.

My mind boggling I found a seat with great views out onto Northbourne Avenue and perused the $9 lunch menu (in the scroller on their website).

My friends arrived and we had table service! Good table service!.

Still stunned by stepping into a weird parallel universe of good service and low prices in charming decor I ordered the lamb shanks. Porker went for the panko crumbed snapper and he who is not yet named chose gnochi.

The place really started to pack out. To the point that when we left our seats were swooped upon.

Despite the full house our meals arrived in good time.

For $9 the serves are not enormous. But I’ve paid $30 for less around the place.

The lamb shank was warmed through and falling off the bone as it should be.

It’s a quirky space with a mezzanine where many a bar has tried to eke out a living on the dregs who couldn’t get into Mooseheads.

But for a cheap, cheerful, classy meal it’s really in a league of its own right now.

You can find it on Northbourne around the corner from The Moose.

(For more sub $10 lunches in Civic check the tag, if you’ve got recommendations let me know.)

$9 for a lambshank and $6 for a pint? Why wasn’t I informed earlier?

Am a shank fan , and 9 bucks is a very good price.

You’re right. That serve is more rhino than the usual mammoth on display around here.

Sound like fantastic value, and I think that there’s something green on the other side of the table.
