So, was it confirmed to have been him, or was it just a scare tactic in the media? “Someone escaped from prison and someone tried to grab a child in Sydney” How was it so easily confirmed that this was the guy involved in attempting to abduct the child?

It wasn’t confirmed. They said he was a suspect in that attempted abduction.

The media claimed that he attacked the child in Sydney

No they didn’t. Wagga Wagga is not Sydney.

in the same article that they claimed he was driving around Canberra in a white ute

Really? Which article? They mentioned a vehicle he may be driving and they said he might be heading to Canberra.

Also, seriously, if you broke out of jail in Tumbarumba, and wanted to hide from police, why on earth would you go to one of the busiest streets in the country, 350km away, unless you wanted to guarantee your re-capture?

Crooks aren’t known for their genius IQ.

So did he return to Canberra: he is alleged to have grabbed a child in Sydney, recently.

Fortunately only attempted kidnapping. Doesn’t sound like he made it to Canberra. He escaped from Tumbarumba on the 14th.

The media claimed that he attacked the child in Sydney, in the same article that they claimed he was driving around Canberra in a white ute, even giving the rego number. They could at least try and keep their story straight from beginning to the end (of the article).

Great catch.
