Tridge makes me damn proud to live in the same city

The Register has coverage of the release of a compatability client for BitKeeper by Canberra Free Software supremo Andrew “tridge” Tridgell.

You can follow the path of this battle from here.

If you don’t understand why any of this matters I recommend you read the short story The Road to Tycho. I’m happy to lend my own copy of Free Software, Free Society: to anyone who’s interested.

The fight for the future is being fought (perhaps unsurprisingly) amongst the geeks. And big guns are being fired by the good guys from Canberra this week.

Bonfire, I’m quite sure that’s not what I meant, but thanks.

dont you mean reverse engineered version of bitkeeper ?

Yeah i was setting up samba on a machine a fair few years ago… like 5 years or so i think…

in the docs that came with it, i noticed it had a donate address or some shit which said canberra act, thats where my respect for tridge started!!!

I couldn’t agree more.

Every time I hear Tridge speak, I suddenly find my self all motivated and wondering what the hell I’ve been wasting my time on.
