Hello. You know the fitter’s workshop at kingston foreshore?

It’s a big building with unique (and generally impractical) acoustics which has recently been the topic of political debate with the Greens and LIberals claiming that keeping it as a resource for the musical community is important?

These people arguing that it’s important to keep it available for music?

Well try using it. Seriously.

I was told that it feel under no-one’s jurisdiction, so couldn’t be used. By anyone.

It is literally impossible to use for any purpose, even as it’s being argued that it should be “kept for the community.”

If I was in the government I would never ever rent any space to anyone. Renting space give people the idea that they have some sort of claim on the property.

That is how the choral people got started. And there are many other instances (Macgregor Hall anyone?) of people who have little or no history in a building then claim sovereign rights for spurious reasons.

Maybe if it falls under no one’s jurisdiction, it can be used by one and all! Are you presently trying to find a concert venue in Canberra? Or are you on the board of the Megalo Print Studio?
