Truckies on the loose?

About 4:30pm today (Saturday), there was a large convoy of trucks heading past Old Parliament House, and then across the lake towards Russell. Since none of them were carrying any load, I can only assume that they were attending or leaving a protest of some sort.

Whatever it was, I lost all sympathy for their cause when no less than 3 of them decided it would be “funny” to blast their horns as close as possible to me, my partner and my dog as we were crossing the Kings Avenue bridge, scaring our puppy half to death and leaving us with a headache and ringing ears for the next 2 hours.

If you’ll excuse the expression, that sort of f*ckwit behavior really pisses me off. Anyone have any idea who they were or what they were up to?

An so is everyone else who posts here….

I thought it was a requirement to post….

GuruJ – You are a typical Canberra winging wanker.

Of course it’s not a big deal — but I get sick of people thinking they’re entitled to act however they please simply because they are driving a vehicle.

I didn’t know the event was for a cancer fundraiser. I do now, which is half the reason for posting in the first place.

In any case, regardless of the cause I think it’s reasonable to ask that participants in a charity drive don’t deliberately — and it was deliberate, the driver waited until he was as close as possible — try to make people jump out of their skin by blasting them with a 100dB horn.

I’ve finished my rant now, OK? I’ll get on with something more productive like, say, bitching about our elected representatives 😉

I think people working for a good cause does not excuse dickhead behavior, and considering it wasn’t that long ago we had trucks invade civic blasting there horns for a protest.

So think it is fair enough for GuruJ not to be impressed i know i wouldn’t be.

Geez, I’m with Vic on this one. Don’t be so precious GuruJ. How ’bout you put your time and energy into a fundraiser for kiddies with cancer (or something useful to the community) instead of bitching and moaning about a truck horn?

It was organised by the ACT Eden Monaro Cancer Support Group, and is their annual truck and motorbike cruise from Canberra, via Queanbeyan to the showgrounds there. A very major fundraiser for them and the kids that suffer cancer.

I’m sorry GuruJ if you were inconvenienced for 5 mintes and had to put up with blasts of a truck horn.

yep – sponsored by annette ellis

I heard something on the radio about a truck gathering at Qbn Showground yeaterday, not 100% sure, but it was something about a kiddies cancer charity thingo. If Im incorrect; apologies.
