Parking doesn’t stop on public holidays, but I do.

I hope your long weekend was as long as your sleep-ins Rioters, however the weekend is over.

It’s week-time now, and week-time is time to get serious.

Serious about bad parking.

If you’ve got any photos of bad parking to share send them to images@the-riotact.com! Be sure to include the word “parking” in your title and let us know what name you would like to be credited using.

1. Tim starts the ball rolling:

Red and yellow and pink and green...

2. Adam provided us with this shot:

Middle aged woman with an expensive hand bag didn’t want to pay for parking or walk too far to the Post Office.

Don't we all

3. Gerry-Built is a master of stealth:

Saturday, mid-morning… Pedestrian crossing under Canberra centre; Mercedes unloading passengers .

Despite there being a drop point at the end of Anzac Pde…

So sneaky

A bit too relaxed, out Hall way…

Page 11 of current post can be this why not?

4. Ozhair’s mate spots some spectacular park work:

Sending this on behalf of a workmate. It’s the public carpark at Parli House. I’m not even sure how this is possible…

Wow!

Next Page

5. Trevar sends us a Canadian Parking meme:

Okay, so it’s not Canberra, but I couldn’t resist passing on this image of some pretty impressive parking…

Canadian

6. Bubzie is no slouch when it comes to stealth either:

Sneakily observed at work this morning.

Sneaky sneaky.

This time civic. Ah civic.

Night! Day!

Get off that gutter!

It's climbing.

7. An anonymous Rioter sends us this study in jerk Taxi drivers:

Not only was this taxi driver not disabled and not entitled to park here he was abusive when his picture was snapped. Yep go him.

Exhibit1 Exhibit2 Exhibit3

8. JC has sympathy for frightened cars:

Here is some bad parking at the Canberra Centre. The ute was there first obviously ‘scared’ of the column to the right.

Scared cars are no joke.

9. AmarooStu with a classic example of poor parking:

Textbook example

10. Goggles13 sent us this:

Spotted in car park near the hellenic club on woden.

The goggles do nothing.

Next Page

11. Thelostmatt didn’t mind that:

It’s not the illegal park that irritated me, it’s the fact it took him two try’s to get it “right”.

Two attempt parking

12. Victor caught this morbid image for us:

Taken today in manuka. That’s a bird stuck in there!

Ewwww...

13. Sheep Groper discovers that books can’t teach you everything:

Some people at the book fair chose to park on the entryway instead of the grass, despite
trees having been chopped down for more parking space.

Books More books

And the Chemist doesn’t disappoint.

Drugs don't teach us everything either.

14. Finally, an anonymous Rioter sent us in this cheeky image featuring a car that has appeared in these pages previously:

am i the only one to not see the issue with #1?

i’d much rather they park on the grass then park on the road at a location like that.

giulia definitely takes the cake though…and the mirror..

Personally I don’t see the issue and agree rather they park like this than on the road.

That said of parking on the nature strip (even if there is no foot path too) is against the rules.

I don’t know that street (#1) but outside my place there is quite a noticeable slowing of traffic when cars park on the street. It’s fairly narrow, no white lines, so a bit of a chicane when cars park on both sides. As it is a surburban street with children and pets around, I’m quite happy to have people slow things down.

Our regulatory overloads are pretty dense sometimes, I too live on a narrow street (a circuit no less with no streets coming off it).

All they’d have to do is paint a yellow line down one side of the street, no need for ugly signs, and one would only be allowed to park on one side.

Much safer than allowing parking, ad hoc, on both sides, and still achieves an aim in slowing moving traffic; at least in theory.

Gulia continues remind the Canberra population who voted for her last time that they won’t do it again. I’ve always thought she had a sense of entitlement. This does nothing to disprove it.

Perhaps a chat from Jeremy regarding the importance of at least appearing to care about the constituency you purport to want to serve.

It never ceases to amaze me how people that have a business name (or their name as the case may be here) drive/park like complete tools.

Is it a case of any publicity is good publicity?

There are probably better ways of getting your name out there. I for one steer clear of businesses that attract my attention this way.

tbh not a big fan of clicking ‘next’ to reload another photo.

I think you we should be able to pay to become a premium Canberra resident. Once you become a premium resident you then get different number plates and can park any where you want and also get free bus passes and free taxi rides back from the pub.

Does it include the right to not only park like a tool but also to drive like a tool? That would be quite a large membership in Canberra.

It really is starting to look like Giulia (or her delegate) suck at parking.

In #14, how is the other car going to get out without smashing his mirror?

Good one Gules, at least we know who was there first.

if they are agile enough (and there is enough space) to get in via the passenger seat – there is no way they are getting in the drivers side. Yes some serious counselling for whoever is driving Giulia’s car I think.

Wonder if anyone has sent the last pic to Giulia Jones with a please explain. Of all the bad parking that is scene on here this one really takes the cake, as there is no way the other vehicle can get out, and it is quite clear going by the location of the mirrors that they were there first. Maybe all of us reading should send her office an email simply saying ‘please explain with a copy of this picture.

#3 “Drop off point at the end of Anzac Pde”? That’s a fair way to walk!

#12 – No numberplate either…

Does this mean if this car is not registered and with no number plate, RAPID wont recognise it as so?

perhaps it has an Unregistered Vehicle Permit.

Rapid will alert the driver that there is no plate present and they’ll come after you to find out why. Don’t ask me how I know , suffice to say I no longer bother with the nicer looking plastic plates that are easily breakable and fall off.

#7: I really hope those photos have also been sent to Canberra Elite Taxis – jerk taxi drivers deserve their comeuppance.

#14: Giulia Jones, repeat after me: “When I/my staffers drive a branded car around town, I/they will observe the road and parking rules.” If I was Giulia, I’d be starting to get concerned about my crap driving/parking reputation. In a town like Canberra, that reputation can make a difference.

#12 – where’s the registration plate – or are they being phased out like rego stickers?

Best.

Or should that be “two tries to get it wrong”?

Guilia Jones, the most famous and worst car parker in Canberra.

#12 – No numberplate either…

“That it just appalling…”

You idiot!

#14: Jiulia Gones really should know better. That it just appalling, not to mention completely inconsiderate.
