Hi,
Tonight I was in a rush around 2am and I was coming from gungahlin/mitchell to woden. I was speeding but I thought there was only 2 speeding cameras (3k before woden turn off & 500m after woden turn off)

Is there one near gungahlin/mitchell and around where? I didn’t see any flashes at all.

I was heading to woden from gungahlin. Was stupid of me to speed, would appreciate anyones help!

one suspects that the “right time” would have to at least be during daylight hours though and not at 2am?

what was so important for you at 2 am that you needed to speed to?

I think you have a very strong case, and I’m sure any judge would accept your assurance that if you’d realised a camera was there, you would have slowed down.

So take it to court – and make sure to tell us all how you get on.

Ummmm you might have had a spot of bad luck if you were in fact speeding last night on Gungahlin Drive. It seems that someone had climbed up the pole holding the Barton Highway speed camera and pointed it down Gungahlin Drive instead.

Crews were out at 5am rectifying the situation so that ‘proper’ speedsters were caught, however if you were speeding on that stretch of road between 11pm and 5am I would expect a nice little ticket in the mail.

Probably not, the speed cameras have defined, calibrated positions for accuracy so they cant be contested in court.

I doubt they would even send them out if they were pointing the wrong way as they would be thrown out of court as they would not be legal.

Apart from the fact the OP is a troll and the person you replied to was also trolling, what you have just said is half true. The camera on the Barton Highway nearest to Gungahlin drive CAN be turned around. If you ever take a close look it has a flash unit in each direction. So no doubt fully calibrated for both directions, though must admit I don’t recall it ever pointing the Yass direction.

Yes, now that I read it again I see the sarcasm in trollsniffers post…..I was pretty tired last night…..

Yes, it may have two positions on the Barton it could use but it would not be able to do Gungahlin drive which is where the alleged offence took place.

flashes often come from the sun and the right time and place.

I’m paying attention.

Indeed. Why are you doing this? Really lazy research into attitudes on speeding??

Get back on your medication – curious indeed!

So you wait for a flash in order to determine if there’s a camera or not? ?

I find it amusing how the traffic on the parkway often runs at 115km/h or more, and yet everyone slows down for the cameras, then speeds back up.

I guess if you get caught under the those circumstances it really is a tax on the stupid.

No, there’s no speed camera on that section. There’s one on the Barton highway in that area.

haha its like a 911 call i heard the other day when some one rang up and asked if it was ilegal to have his dope plants growing in his back yard.

Oh this should end well…

You used to be able to get a map showing all the speed camera locations on the government website. I can’t seem to find one now…

Are you serious???
