You people have any idea how easy it is to conduct a controlled burn?

Yes I know, there has been the odd one that has gotten out of control but when you consider the many thousands of controlled burns that take place in Oz each year, the odd one getting loose is a rare event.

Why I even conducted a controlled burn in my own back yard the other day when the fire from my dog poo incinerator jumped ‘containment lines’ and started on the dead grass that had consumed my collection of river pebbles. Very easy to sit there in my thongs and wife beater armed with my trusty Nylex and stop it from spreading.

Now, I can rake up my rocks without all that grass making things difficult.

Well I’m pretty sure that’s the point of the whole excercise. Fuel loads need to be made “not high”, hence the need for a burnoff.

I think it’s OK. We just had 50-60mm of rain across the Territory less than a week ago, and today had virtually no wind whatsoever. Official fire danger index was ‘low’.

The plantation is on the other side of the Monaro Hwy, ie, not on the side where the houses are. I had to look it up and I live in Chisholm!
