Turner car rampage

By johnboy - 6 July 2013 15

ACT Policing is calling for witnesses to multiple incidents of property damage to vehicles in Turner on Friday evening (July, 5).

About 7pm ACT Policing City Patrol members in Turner observed damage to vehicles on Verdon Street, including vehicles which had the windscreen wipers removed or damaged.

The incidents last night follow reports of damage to windscreen wipers on vehicles in the Turner area in the past week, with the majority occurring between 11am and 6pm on Forbes Street.

If your vehicle was damaged over the last week ACT Policing would urge you to contact Police Operations on 131 444.

Anyone who may have witnessed the damage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

You can become involved in protecting your local community by joining your local branch of Neighbourhood Watch. Go to www.nhwact.com.au for more information.

hmmm could Condamine Court and Northbourne flats being so close just be a coincidence? High crimes rates too if you look at the new interactive map through AFP

The gentrification of Turner is obviosuly not agreeing with someone.

(“they” being the perpetrators of course… maybe they’ve got something of their own that needs wrecking, then they’ll know)

My feeling is it’s getting worse. You’ll be hearing more of it. If you know anything go to the police, if you know anyone who’s boasting about this sort of thing, go to the police, you’ll be helping a lot of good people if you do.

A lot of people, often not very well off people and with important car commitments such as work or study or some other genuine effort, they get upset by these sort of things especially when they feel powerless to stop it, and sit back and wait for the next wreck, in some cases the same car hit two nights in a row.

They need to be made to understand very clearly what the impacts are on all sorts of people. They should not hold this view that nobody else matters.

Nothing new here, I’ve long heard Turner is notorious for car vandalism and theft. I know at least one person whose had their car broken into repeatedly, on one occasion they found the top of the car gone!

(Maybe police should be doing stop checks to track down people strolling the streets with a tyre wrench and a dual saw concealed on them)

So the Turner Car Rampage was actually in O’Connor, then?

Indeed David St has a foot in each suburb so while the Polish Club is in Turner it’s spitting distance from the O’Connor shops..

From personal chagrin the cops don’t come out for O’Connor car rampages

Well spotted. Which would make it a Turner AND O’Connor car rampage.

Argh FFS, apologies for that, I had to refresh the page because my post wouldn’t go through. I thought I’d copied my comment to paste after refreshing but I’ve obviously managed to copy the page link instead. What I meant to say was Forbes St. is in Turner, not O’Connor.

Right, but Verdon St is in O’Connor.

i cycle down forbes street sometimes on my way to work and on friday morning passed a car with its driver’s side windscreen wiper completely bent outwards onto the street side.

maybe the narrabundah tyre slasher is expanding their hobby in inner north?

damaging other people’s property just for kicks, not even for your own gain (eg breaking window to steal stuff) always seems like one of the most purile mindless crimes to me.
