Two teenage girls assaulted by five other teenagers near Belconnen Mall

Police are seeking witnesses to an assault on two teenage girls by a group of five other teenagers just outside the Westfield Belconnen Mall last Friday afternoon.

Three teenage girls and two teenage boys were involved in the attack on the two girls which left them with multiple injuries.

Some of the teenager offenders were allegedly wearing school uniforms at the time.

ACT Policing said the assault occurred between 3 pm and 3:15 pm last Friday, November 10.

It took place outside a cafe near the Lathlain Street entrance to Belconnen Mall.

One of the female offenders is described as being 14 years old, tall, with a thin build and straight blonde hair. She was wearing black pants and a black top with white runners.

One of the male offenders is described as being 17 years old, with a heavy build and of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance.

Police are urging anyone who has footage or images which could assist police or who has any information on the other offenders to call police on 131444 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.

This item caught my eye because I saw an identical incident some months ago, however it was an all female affair and pretty viscious at that.
I wonder if that Lathlan St entrance area is not under surveillance and that is why it is a good place to commit that sort of crime.
