Last year we were enthralled by the botched yet still brutal robbery of the Kaleen Caltex.

This week the ABC has reported that Leigh Coulter is the Tyre Iron and has been sentenced to five and a half years for this crime amongst others.

No word on Dogman, the hero Canberra deserves, but not the one it needs right now.

Excellent work. I just wish the sentence was longer. He belted the attendant 4 or 5 times just for grins after he’d taken the cash. Dogs like that need to be off the street for the protection of the public.

And speaking of dogs, I dips me lid once again to the bloke with the dog who intervened. That was bloody courageous, and I hope I’d have the fortitude to do the same under those circumstances.

My initial reaction was that the sentence period was suprisingly harsh by Refshauge standards however Leigh Coulter, 24, was sentenced on Wednesday morning over the aggravated robbery of a Caltex service station in Kaleen, a home invasion in which he threatened to slit someone’s throat, and for repeatedly assaulting a man he blamed for sending him to jail.

So given the above and that he’s eligible for parole in Feb 2015 that’s only two years if he behaves himself which many would consider lenient.

His mate was before the courts.

Ryan Taylor, 27, from Dunlop also appeared in court charged with aiding and abetting Coulter in the robbery.
He was granted bail by Magistrate Peter Morrison and will be back in court in three weeks time.

Bloody excellent!

Indeed pleasant reading. What happened to his ‘mate’ , who held the door open , the one who was not going to get involved with the dog walker in any way.

Bloody excellent!
