UC breeding earless dragons

No we’re not talking about certain election night pundits supplied by that august seat of learning, rather the ABC has news on a breeding program for some cute little lizards:

At just 6 centimetres in length and less than a month old, tiny grassland earless dragons are partial to a few insects at meal time.

“We are trying to add more ants into their diet but that is proving to be a bit of a challenge,” said Canberra researcher Lisa Doucette.

“It’s something you can’t buy from your local supplier so we actually have to collect them from the wild on a regular basis to supplement their diet.”

It is not the only challenge the lizards pose for researchers at the University of Canberra’s Institute for Applied Ecology, who are overseeing a captive breeding program to bolster earless dragon numbers.

And with the aid of these dragons I shall finally reclaim the Iron Throne from the usurper.

How come I always read this as:

UC breeding useless dragons

?

Def Lizzard ‘Let’s get rocked’

Is this some sort of obscure reference to Def Leppard? They may be earless but they’re not one armed…

Obscure? I don’t know the meaning of the word…

Yeah I do not get it. I used to have a lil bearded dragon who loved ants. Go put something on a ants nest then pick it up in a couple of seconds and shake into ziplock bag.

Not rocket science.

There are a ton of ants nests around the science buildings at UC. I don’t think they are looking or trying very hard.

“It’s (ants) something you can’t buy from your local supplier so we actually have to collect them from the wild on a regular basis to supplement their diet.”

Buy??

I’ll PAY to hire those dragons so I can deal with my home ant infestation!!

(my avatar is finally back, and so appropriate for this post)
