The University of Canberra is letting us all know that they’ve done well in a survey of graduate employability.

Eight out of 10 university of Canberra graduates were in full time employment in 2010, which is higher than the national, New South Wales or ACT results.

Across Australia, 76.2 percent of graduates were in full time employment in 2010. The figure for University of Canberra graduates was 79.9 percent, compared with 79.6 percent for the ACT as a whole or 75.4 percent for graduates from universities across the border in New South Wales.

Meanwhile >95% of the population is employed… why are uni grads so far behind?

It doesnt mention if they are employed in anything related to what they studied at UC. If you’ve got a degree, and you cant get some sort of job in the public service in Canberra, you may as well go sign up at macca’s!

Not really surprising, Even if UC did have lower numbers than ANU for Law or Commerce (nfi how they compare) they’d more then make up for it due to having Nursing and Teaching courses, which ANU simply doesn’t have.

Do they measure which of the 8 graduates were employed full time wiping the tables at McDonalds compared to in a position related to their “degree”?

UC has always had more employable grads, mostly because it focuses on skilling students rather than research.
