Ugliest house in Canberra?

Does anyone else think the new house on Hindmarsh Dve Isaacs looks like a servo?

The almost completed house on southern side of Hindmarsh Drive (Isaacs) looks like a servo. Is anyone else horrified that some person considers that ugliest house in Canberra tasteful and pleasantly located? Everyday on my way to work I cant believe that it is as ugly as it is. I think it looks like a service station minus the pumps.

I’d rather look at the trees (that were cut down to prepare for this horrible new sububan development) than this monstrosity. Did someone actually pay money for it? or is it a display home, if so, they’re sure to be swamped by tasteless idiots wanting to buy a servo/ house with a lovely view of a dual carriageway. GROSS.

Dont ACTPLA have some say over these hideous constructions that are bespoiling our gorgeous urban bushland?

What happened to JB the investigative reporter with the overactive camera not taking a photo of these truly ugly houses.

How about Kurd Jokes?

What do Saddam hussein and Little Miss Muffet have in COmmon?

They both have kurds in their way!

no, that was the Nazis

NB: No good has ever come from a consentration camp joke. Nazi jokes yes, Mel Brooks made his career with those, but even in that case it helps if you’re Jewish.

Pat Carr reckons JB smokes poles.

Well that’s JB for you…

I reckon it was him walking around the house in nothing but an overcoat or whatever it was from last months top hits list that was so funny

I could well of meant a Pole. JB had one (well a yank of Polish descent) a few years back but she went home.

and on the sleeve a ban the monkey bike logo

I’ve had further thoughts on the RiotACT merchandising franchise.

A T shirt with a camel on it, with a RiotACT logo, and a name tag sewn conspicuously on the outside of the back saying ‘property of Patrick Carr’

Will the residents of the ugliest building get a free lifelong subscription of ‘The Riotact’?

oh a Poll…

Here I was thinking a pole ? what the hell would they want that for, and where would they put it ?!?!

One thing that has been lacking from RA for some time now (since the change over) is a pole, not sure if it was a code thing or if we just haven’t been bothered. BUT as Riot isn’t adverse to public shaming how about people send in images of their nomination for the ugliest house in Canberra and once we have 4 or 5 we ask the question.

i lived in a seidler design once.

great to look at, not so great to live in. lots of bizarre useless areas.

There’s a dark grey monstrosity in Scrivener St., which wiped 3 old cottages when being built.

Has anyone seen the house that looks like an angry public toilet on Officer cresent in Ainslie? That would be my nomination.

The ugliest house has to be one on Tullaroop Street in Duffy – It has the smallest windows ever and there is a massive side to the house with no windows at all! Must be vampires that live there…

Or throw up against them 😉

If you dont like the design of the houses that some people are throwing up, dont look at them. That or buy a big slingshot

I think the pretentious TV advertisements for that subdivision were much uglier. The marketing people appear to have picked the pompous Mercedes convertible driving stuck up woman demographic. They could well be the first against the wall when the revolution comes.

Northcrest in Gungahlin would’ve have to vying for Canberra’s highest proportion of ugly houses.

How about the one facing Hindmarsh Dr in the new O’Malley sub-division? I’d say it’ll be the start of an over-priced insect infested slum where no prospective buyer will be prepared to pay in excess of $1-1.5mill for a house in a swampy gully…
