Unlicenced driver accused of high-range drink driving

A 31-year-old Griffith man has been charged with high-range drink driving after a Mitsubishi Lancer was intercepted in Aranda last night (28 April).

At about 9:29 pm the vehicle was pulled over by officers on William Hovell Drive where police said the driver returned a positive breath screening test.

The man was taken into custody and to City Police Station where he returned a reading of 0.193 grams of alcohol per 210 litres of breath.

He was served with an immediate suspension notice, removing his right to drive, and was charged with drink driving, unlicenced driving, and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

He’s due to appear in ACT Magistrates Court on 1 June.
