A few more lights on Hindmarsh Drive – particularly the section covered by the point-to-point speed cameras, and, perhaps, paid for by the revenue from that rather effective traffic calming device, would be money well spent.

I’m assuming you mean road/street lights! I initially thought where the hell do they need more traffic lights on that road! I also note they have taken a long time on the Athllon drive Point 2 Point cameras, if they are even still happening.

Definitely lighting, not more traffic lights!

More broadly, on the subject of the “flaming wreck”, I see that the Times is reporting rates will go up “by around 10 per cent, and by up to 14 per cent” – which, after allowing for concessions, will probably mean an average increase more like 15 percent, and at least double that further up the scale – so another round of “triple your rates” – yes they will/no they wont is surely on the way.

Are the terms “road safety audit” and “traffic safety investigations” code for “we’re going to put more speed bumps in, we just need someone to write a report recommending them at this location”?

WTF. All this money just to “investigate” it. A few adverts in the Canberra Times and Chronicle and maybe a pamphlet drop in relevant suburbs asking for residents’ input would be a lot cheaper and probably come up with better ideas. I’m not a resident of any of those areas but I’d like to put forward one idea which is NOT to use chipseal on the roads.

– 450,000 for the installation of 30 drinking fountains across Canberra

Or ash trays, as they are commonly known.
