ACT Fire & Rescue and the ACT Rural Fire Service is currently responding to reports of a grass fire burning at Uriarra Road.

The Bushfire Alert and Warning Level for this fire has been set at ADVICE.

ACT Fire & Rescue and the ACT Rural Fire Service has seven units responding to the scene.

The fire is reported to be located near Uriarra Crossing.

At the current fire danger level of high fires can be controlled.

There is little to no risk to life and property from this fire.

The fire is located near Uriarra Crossing in grass and shrub area.

The fire is approximately two to three hectares in size and is being controlled.

The fire is burning at a slow rate and is heading in a easterly direction.

At the current fire danger level of high fires can be controlled.

There is little to no risk to life and property from this fire.

The fire is located near Uriarra Crossing.

The fire is approximately two to three hectares in size and is being controlled.

At the current fire danger level of low-moderate fires can be easily controlled.

There is little to no risk to life and property from this fire.

The Bushfire Alert and Warning Level for this fire has been set at ADVICE.

ACT Fire & Rescue and the ACT Rural Fire Service have 11 units on scene with a waterbombing helicopter.

The fire is located near Uriarra Crossing.

The fire is approximately six to seven hectares in size and is being controlled.

The fire is burning at a slow rate and is heading in a easterly direction.

At the current fire danger level of high fires can be controlled.

There is little to no risk to life and property from this fire.

ACT Fire & Rescue and the ACT Rural Fire Service is working to extinguish a grass fire burning at Uriarra Road.

The Bushfire Alert and Warning Level for this fire has been set at ADVICE.

ACT Fire & Rescue and the ACT Rural Fire Service has 19 units on scene with a waterbombing helicopter. Helicopter is continuing with waterbombing operations to assist ground crews and extinguishing hot spots.

The fire is located near Uriarra Crossing.

The fire is approximately six to seven hectares in size and is being controlled.

The fire is burning at a slow rate and is heading in a easterly direction.

At the current fire danger level of high fires can be controlled.

There is little to no risk to life and property from this fire.

5:44 PM

ACT Fire & Rescue and the ACT Rural Fire Service is working to extinguish a grass fire burning at Uriarra Road.

The Bushfire Alert and Warning Level for this fire has been set at ADVICE.

ACT Fire & Rescue and the ACT Rural Fire Service has 16 units on scene and a waterbombing helicopter. A bulldozer is also on scene cutting a mineral earth containment line around the fire to prevent any fire escaping the burnt out area.

The fire is approximately six to seven hectares in size and is being controlled.

The fire is burning at a slow rate and is heading in a easterly direction.

At the current fire danger level of high fires can be controlled.

There is little to no risk to life and property from this fire.

6:35 PM

Fire has been extinguished.

Crews conducting mopping up operations.

The waterbombing helicopter has been released with other units to be released shortly.

One heavy and one medium tanker will remain on site through the night to carry out patrol activity and to ensure no flare ups occur.

No idea about this one, but in the last couple of weeks there have been fires started close to Canberra by machinery (a slasher and a quad bike), a few by lightning and one by a welder. Not much can be done about the lightning, but if people were more careful/prepared….

What is it with all these grass fires around Canberra?

Fire bugs?
Lightning?
Spontaneous combustion?
Tossers flinging out their cigarette butts from their white Commodore?
Skippy has managed to command fire?
