Hi All,

Just wondering if any southsiders know if Valley Retravision is still open in Tuggeranong? The phone number listed in the yellow pages has been disconnected. I live northside and dont want to have to drive down and discover they arent there!

Cheers

Check http://www.current.com.au and plug Retravision into the search box. The Canberra stores were some of the biggest debtors, hence they didn’t survive administration. The group is still up and trading but a number of stores dissapeared permanently as a result of not being able to trade it out. When your buying group collapses, you can’t order stock to sell to customers – its the beginning of the end really.

Is that right witm? Is this common knowledge? I hadn’t heard of it before…. sad news I guess for the franchisees. I wonder if you can insure yourself for such shitty management?

Well, it doesn’t help when your buying group collapses under debts of $50M+ – that’s what brought Retravision to its knees… creditors are still trying to clean up the mess. Doesn’t help when stores were being given endless time to pay their debts back to head office. Made it hard for head office to remit payment to the suppliers in a timely manner. A victim of poor management, I say.

It’s odd as the retravision shops were individually owned busineses who used the retravision name.

All the retravisions have gone from around here despite all the advertising, started with Queanbeyan closing then Belconnen turned into Bing Lee, then Fyshwick followed and I think Valley was the last to go, didn’t hear the closing death knell for it though.

Agreed with a couple of comments above, they did have some good specials from time to time, but pretty much every retravision had really old stuff in it and they always were trying to sell it above what other places were selling the newer stock.. Bing Lee is exactly the same, stock is crap and in addition they never have any the catalogue specials, at least retravision had that going for it…

FaHCSIA are in there now.

I always thought they were crap. Their store was very poorly lit and full of mostly old stock. I’m not surprised that market forces saw the end of them.

damn! got some bargains there over the years, tis a shame 🙁

thanks all 🙂

they closed about 6 months ago with a “make us an offer sale”

I made them an offer and they got offended so I didn’t buy anything…

It;s a shame as well, they had some good staff there at one stage and were quite good on pricing but maybe The Good Guys in Tuggers saw them off?

Nope. They have been gone for a while now.
