Territory And Municipal Services have taken the unusual step of calling for witnesses to the vandalism of their facilities at the Tharwa Sandwash recreation area on the Murrumbidgee River.
“Given that the Tharwa Sandwash recreation area has recently received an upgrade to improve the visitor experience, it is incredibly disappointing to have someone destroy the facilities and surrounding environment,” Brett McNamara, Rural District Manager, said today.
“What we do have on our side is CCTV footage of the offenders as well as others and we are working with ACT Police to identify the suspects.
“There are a number of remote cameras in operation at parks and reserves across the ACT to keep an eye on what goes on within the estate. We use these cameras to monitor wildlife and feral animal activity as well as illegal activities such as these.”

“We ask that acts of vandalism or theft of trees and vandalism of our recreation facilities be reported
so that they can be investigated as close as possible to the act occurring, evidence gathered and
