Varekai takes off

I went to the opening night of Cirque Du Soleil’s Varekai last night.

It was in a word sensational!

The Big Top looks fantastic on the lake – we should use the lake for more of these sorts of events, including festivals.

The performances were exhilarating…stunning costumes with a great atmosphere.

Marathon man, Rob de Castella, made a special appearance that brought the house down.

They received a standing ovation and came out for 3-4 ‘curtain calls’.

The after party was also first-rate. Held under the ‘shadow’ of the Big Top on a balmy evening the guests wined and dined with some of the performers.

Just gone through the same process, Sammy. Better to go in through the home page, and click on “Varekai” under Feature Events. Don’t use the search boxes – had the same problem.

The Ticketek website is very confusing. Best I can tell, you cannot purchase tickets through Ticketek, but gift vouchers for ticket redemption at the box office. Anyone?

I believe so – through Ticketek

are tickets still available?

I also went to the show last night and it was just amazing – the contortionist (SP?) was incredible and all the costumes are just so colourful and fanciful and the comic relief was really funny. I am definitely going back again.

Next Thursday is my time. Thanks for getting me pumped guys.

I was sceptical about the whole affair. But begrudgingly went along with free tickets and loved every minute.

Great show and very well organised – I was expecting parking or ticketing or toilet hassles on the first night, but everything went swimmingly.
