Vehicle inspection stations - quick and easy?

Fellow Rioters,

I’m soon going to acquire a vehicle and will need to get a rego inspection done. It’s only a trailer, so I imagine it’d take all of about thirty seconds. However, the Dickson inspection station isn’t open on the weekends, and I don’t really want to have to make appointments to take the thing in during the week.

I wonder if anyone has any recommendations about places that are able to inspections in a quick and easy fashion, preferably on the weekend?

I’m not looking for someone who’ll turn a blind eye to something, as I’ve seen someone else ask before – just wondering if anyone’s had any good hassle-free experiences with authorised vehicle inspection stations?

Thanks for any tips!

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I tried mechanical care at Belconnen, but they couldn’t do it – too busy.

After a lot of ringing around, I went to Woden Tyre and Exhaust in Phillip, who did it on the spot (well, after about a ten minute wait, but that’s pretty good.)

No issues, quick and easy. Now, as Antagonist says, to try to get to a Canberra Connect. So annoying that none of them are open weekends.

Kevin’s Autos alongside the servo at the corner of Canberra Avenue and Ipswich Street, Fyshwick is pretty quick. I have gone there a few times, never had an appointment, and they will normally do the inspection straight away or tell you to wait 10 minutes.

No idea if they are open on the weekend, but according to Google their number is (02) 6280 6994, give them a call and ask them if they are open on the weekend.

They do a lot of rego inspections, I suspect that they do them for most of the Fyshwick car yards, as the times I have been there it looks like about half of their wok is rego inspections.

Gordon from Mechanical Care in Belconnen is my recommendation. He definitely won’t turn a blind eye to genuine safety issues, but he also won’t use it as a license to print money either, which is usually the biggest problem.

It is not the inspection station that will cause you grief. It is the ACT Government Shopfront that will cause you grief.
