Vicki Dunne has put out a media release celebrating her new found role as a legislator in the brave new world of minority Government.

In the space of just two sitting weeks in 2009 Shadow Attorney-General and Member for Ginninderra, Vicki Dunne, has seen two bills and a motion, introduced by her, passed in the Assembly.

“I am very pleased to have been able to achieve support from the Assembly for bills that amended the Adoption Act and the Freedom of Information law and a motion that forced the government to better and more consultative neighbourhood planning for a car parking site at the Hawker shopping centre,” said Mrs Dunne.

It will be interesting to see which other Liberals put in the hard yards to actually draft legislation and convince the Greens of its merit.

I live very close to the hawker shops. What could you possibly want a larger car park there for? There is never more than 5 cars packed in it anyway.

I can’t say I have had any reason to actually go to those shops far less park there.

Hold on – we’ve recently seen Ms Porter LIE about being the one responsible for the extra parking at Hawker. I don’t mind an MLA taking cedit where due.

How many more carparks could you need there?? It is a massive parking site that is underutilised as it is!

Personally I want to see which MLAs can set a record for repealing legislation.

It’s a matter of numbers, Dante. You can’t get things passed in a majority government if people vote on party lines.

It’s actually good to see MLAs having the opportunity to get legislation passed from across the political spectrum. If the bills are robust enough to withstand scrutiny by other ideologically different members then I am pleased that they would be able to work together and cooperate in this fashion.

I hope that we continue to see this sort of thing in the future.

Congratulations Mrs Dunne, you’re doing the job that you were put there to do….huh?

I didn’t know workers deserved special recognition in press releases for just doing their job. I’m gonna go talk to the boss and let her know how much glory and press I deserve!
