Video from the Gungahlin meet the Candidates Event is now online (via YouTube) at the Gungahlin Community Council Website.

There is an initial introduction by Alan Kerlin (president of the GCC) then presentations by the candidates in attendance (in the order in which they spoke):

* Meredith Hunter – Greens,
* Bob McMullan – ALP,
* Farida Iqbal – Socialist Alliance,
* Norvan Vogt – Democrats,
* Michael Denborough – Nuclear Disarmament Party,
* Kate Lundy – ALP,
* Michael Fullam-Stone – Climate Change Coalition,
* Kerry Tucker – Greens,
* Darren Churchill – Australian Democrats.

There is approximately another hour of video covering a multitude of different topics taken directly afterward this initial series of clips, however we have not had a chance to edit that video yet (and anyone familiar with uploading a lot of material to YouTube will fully appreciate the large amounts of time it takes to upload reasonable resolution video). However if there is sufficient interest the GCC will look at creating some additional clips of the “highlights”.

It was kind of interesting to listen to Michael Denborough of the NDP, you can tell by the way his voice rises that he passionately believes that US vs Iran is going to cause World War 3. He did a lot better then the Socialist Alternative who look like they are represented by a homeless person and whose main selling point is the ‘highest target for emission reduction’ out of all the parties.

Actually other candidates did not make the event either:

* Jim Arnold – CEC (Confirmed as attending, but did not show)
* Kerri Taranto – Independent (Unable to be contacted – no email or phone details)
* Emma Davidson – What Women Want (Had a prior commitment)
* Lisa Milat – Liberty and Democracy Party (Did not respond to the invitation)

The website says they both had prior commitments. Not exactly an implausible excuse during an election campaign, but make of it what you will.
