Are you looking for a place to safely observe the upcoming partial solar eclipse? Mt Stromlo Observatory will have several telescopes available for the Canberra community to view through. The partial eclipse will be visible in Canberra from 7am -9am on Wednesday 14 November 2012.
The event is free and bookings are not required. In the event of cloudy weather, the event will be cancelled. You can check out the weather at Mt Stromlo using our all sky web camera.
Please note that the best location to see the solar eclipse is from the Cairns, Port Douglas region of Cape York, where a total eclipse will be visible (ie all of the Sun will be covered by the Moon).
DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN OR USE A NORMAL TELESCOPE TO OBSERVE THE ECLIPSE AS IT CAN CAUSE PERMANENT EYE DAMAGE.
