Vikings Outmanoeuvre Sydney Fleet

The Canberra Vikings showed they were far more fleet, as they ran around the pitiful Sydney Fleet in this afternoon’s ARC game at Canberra Stadium. It was a rampaging 8 tries to 4 demolition, resulting in a 56 – 29 full time score. Highlights of the game included a hattrick of tries to Frankie, and the tries to Big Al and Ugly John (as we all know tries to the forwards should be worth double). Lowlights of the game include letting the Fleet in for a bonus points try, and the paltry 2,017 people who turned up to watch the game (come on Canberra, you can do better than that!). More details on Brumbies Rugby

This win puts the Vikings back towards the top, in second position on the ARC ladder. So I hope to see everyone out at Manuka Oval next Sunday for the Vikings last home game of the season (excluding finals) to make some noise for our guys.

Agreed, JC, I prefer Manuka for the small-crowd games.
Also, I find the atmosphere even better at these Vikings games than the Brumbies ones! The ref copped a pounding.

Ditto on the crowd – but it was a hell of a lot better than trying to get out of the carpark after a Brumbies’ game.

I found the referee incomprehensible, unless you considered that, for some reason, the Fleet really wanted a bonus point. Some of his later decisions (even more than the earlier ones) were inexplicable.

The crowd was tiny but the game was great. I must say with a small crowd I prefer Manuka.

I also forgot to mention the absolute brain failure of the man the middle which saw us without Wacky and Leaf for the end of the game (maybe the ref was on wacky leaf?).
