Virtual Court Dead On Arrival

The Canberra Times has a story on the demise of the little understood “virtual court” proposed by Simon Corbell, after the Greens said no.

The ACT Government’s proposal to add a third tier to the Canberra court system is dead in the water despite having allocated $900,000 for the idea in this financial year.

Attorney-General Simon Corbell said last night the Government would now embark on separate reforms, but claimed they would not address systemic delays within the Supreme Court.

More judges rather than more hats for the existing judges might do the trick?

Increase the jurisdiction of the Magistrates Court. Get a 2nd Master.

I only heard a snippet earlier on the radio, but I think that’s the plan.
