Is anyone else having trouble with the Vodafone mobile broadband at the moment?

I haven’t been able to get a network connection for the past 24 hours.

Now this is why I use Telstra, it may be more expensive but at least it works.

I’ve got a Vodafone Galaxy 2S. It’s a truly beautiful, sweet piece of engineering. I dips me lid to the people who put it together.

Tragically, it’s linked to the Vodafone network, which is a disgraceful sham and fraud. I work in Fyshwick, which is a major industrial suburb in the nations capital. I can usually get a data connection, but I can’t recall it ever lasting for more than a few minutes before it dies in the arse and the browser on the phone gives me a 404 for every page, generally followed by a total loss of network connection.

I went to Vodafone because they were cheap. I’d actually be really happy to get the cheap crap service I paid for, because I don’t use the net on my phone very often so cheap crap is all I want. But getting nothing at all has really started to annoy me. In my case, Vodafone have 12 months to upgrade the network in the ACT, otherwise they’ll lose me for ever when my shitful contract runs out. And if anybody in the ACT is filing a class action lawsuit, I”ll be in it.

If you are interested in joining a class action (I almost did in the last one) you need to write down the date and time you tried to connect to the internet using the Vodafone network and what issues you found. Keeping a diary is the only way to join a class action.

I recently gave up on 3/Vodafone when my contract ran out. It is brilliant to be with Telstra and be able to access the internet all the time, wherever I am. Even in the centre of Belconnen (which was pitiful with 3).

Vodafone has been really patchy lately, (mainly Civic, Fyshwick and Inner North for me) I contacted their help team via twitter and they offered help but when they couldn’t resolve it they seem to have gone quiet…doesn’t

Might take it up with the Ombudsman if it doesn’t improve soon

Ditching Vodafone for Telstra 4G was the best decision I have made recently

Manuka on a Sunday. Just give up and find a cafe with wifi. The network gets so overloaded it might as well be switched off. Although it’s not just Vodafone..

Suggest you use IP over Avian Carriers. Could be a vast improvement over VF…

You could always ask on their support forum?

The next batch of improvements programmed across ACT to complete by March 2012 just didn’t happen and none of the new 850mhz sites were done.
The dates were eventually revised to June or October 2012 and were shown by suburb, and now this information seem to have been removed from the Vodafone website altogether.
The problem was that Vodafone’s own shop staff used the website for informing new customers about coverage updates, so they were possibly getting a lot of flak and cancelled contracts under their network guarantee….mainly because the shop staff were still selling contracts based upon wrong information.

They seem to have stopped reporting dates altogether and now push you to the “coverage checker” which just shows work due within the next 3 months. Of course…..they can just leave that for as long as they want, and it will always say within 3 months…

For whatever reason, it seems ACT was de-prioritised completely because nothing has been recorded on Vodafone’s own update blog since July 2011.

No 3G coverage in Tuggers for past month. Reported to VF only to be advised that the problem “has been escalated to the network team” every 3rd day! Phone works with 3G turned off. Must be the fabulous upgrade :S

I had some issues with mine last week/weekend (Weston). I have two 3 (same as VF really) USBs and both were connecting but then having big probs opening up web pages.

Luckily I also have a Bigpond USB which I could swap to. (But I’m connected with 3 right now).

With VF for mobile and have had some issues in the last couple of weeks accessing internet around home which is in Tuggers. Seems like their improvements were short lived after that diab
