Vollies off to fix Queensland again

The 21 strong ACTSES deployment to QLD have left Canberra Airport to help in the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Yasi.

ESA Commissioner Mark Crosweller and ACTSES Chief Officer Tony Graham farewelled the deployment who fly to Brisbane and then board a chartered flight to Cairns.

The deployment is due to return to the ACT on Tuesday afternoon.

God, my typing on a phone sucks!

Just to highlight that this means 63 SES personnel (roughly a quarter of the service) have now deployed since Jan. ACTSES has also maintained full capabilities in Canberra at this time, as demonstrated by our ability to put lots of teams in the field since Wed night to deal with trees and storm issues here (there are still tree jobs coming in this morning).

Not bad for a bunch of collies who gave day jobs (and our employers, families etc…)
