Katy Gallagher’s promising a “Centenary Loop” bus service so you won’t miss a minute of Centenary action next year:

If re-elected in 2012, ACT Labor will invest $750,000 for a free ‘Centenary Loop’ which will connect the Parliamentary Triangle with the city centre and our national capital icons and attractions for our Centenary year.

The ‘Centenary Loop’ will be a 7 day a week, half hourly service during our Centenary year servicing Canberrans as well as visitors to our city.

I have absolutely no idea who this is supposed to appeal to except Robyn Archer.

So, direct all the visitors to take up all the limited parking in Barton, then bus it to Civic. Clever one government. Doing themselves and the people who work in Barton a large dis-service. The tourists will awe at how you don’t have to pay for parking right next to parliament house and how grumpy and unwelcoming Canberrans are [unbeknown to the tourist that they are making the locals’ parking woes even worse].
Also, they will wonder why they have to wait an hour and a half for the bus to take them to the arboretum and how they will get back to their car after 4:30pm, as all the buses have gone home to bed.
$750,000!!!!!! What a waste of money. Bye bye labor.

Awesome!!! Love this… Free parking in the parliamentary triangle and free bus to the city…

This Centenary just gets less and less appealing.

Have any candidates mentioned ‘calling the whole thing off’ in their policy platform yet? I could almost vote for that.

Maybe it’ll take people to the tram stops.

If I’m not mistaken, every “tourist” bus service in this town, both public and private, have failed badly. What’s different about this one? Other than wasting more of our money..
