Walk to work with the G-G

The Governor-General, Major General Michael Jefferies, will be leading the charge tomorrow for National Walk to Work Day.

Accompanied by Australia’s Chief Medical Officer John Horvath (didn’t know we had one) and the head of Prime Minister and Cabinet Peter Shergold, the G-G will lead public servants and media on a walk from Floriade to Parliament House.

Interesting to note that Floriade has changed, this year particularly, from being an event itself to being a location where events happen. Also interesting to note that none of the people mentioned as taking part in this “walk to work” actually work at Parliament House.

My work involves lots of walking, thanks very much, so I’ll just drive there OK?

Jey, I only know one other person in this world who says “huzzah”, and unless he is stalking my online activities, you are officially person number two…and I’m babbling…

What if you don’t have a work to walk to? What if you can’t walk? This event discriminates.
Also, will this really influence those obese and unhealthy and those who drive everywhere to walk more often?
*end rant*

Howard’s add for the event was a little frightening ‘Wherever I am, whatever I’m doing I also find time to go for a walk.’ – well huzzah for him!

Sorry Sam, I’ve just been told that actually I screwed up the tag and so it didn’t work before someone very kindly fixed it. That’ll teach me to think I can work html.

My link works fine for me Sam.

Well, I took the 40 minute walk today, was running late and still arrived before my boss, and the other person with the key to get in (and knowledge of the security code).

I’m not at work tommorow so today seemed like a nice day for a walk…and I had more overly long walks later in the day so I’m glad to be home.
