Walkers beware! Assault in Latham

You wouldn’t imagine that a regular Sunday stroll in Canberra would be fraught with danger? However this is a warning to anyone in the Latham, Kippax area! My uncle was taking his regular Sunday walk last weekend, when a young man jogged past with his dog and punched him to the ground, leaving him quite badly injured.

He was described as early twenties, wearing a dark hoodie (with the hood up). If you’ve seen anyone who fits in that description hanging around the area, PLEASE REPORT IT TO THE POLICE.

It’s scary to think that something like this could happen in the light of day on a Sunday morning as well as in other parts of Canberra.

i feel sorry for the original poster who has issued a valid warning to those in the area and who has also given a description of the dirt bag in case, as muttsy pointed out, anyone in the area happened to see someone who matched the description possibly entering a house or moving in a general direction they can report. Yet all we have managed to point out is how flawed his post may be because he has somehow discriminated against hoody wearers, lol.. good work -.-

i think the issue is that for some reason these random acts of violence are occurring pretty scary if you ask me.

oh and btw, if we were able to incorporate a compulsory euthanasia for all unnecessarily judgmental people we would probably rid the population a 99.99% of hostility

Hey guys! Sorry as a fellow hoodie wearer I should have clarified that the hood was up so you couldn’t see his face (that’s the only reason why I mentioned it).

Apart from that I sorry that I don’t have too many details as the whole situation was unexpected – but he had a black dog and it was in the area near the creek, mid way between Latham heading towards Kippax around 9.45am. I guess all I can say is be careful in the area!

Honestly, what the hell is wrong with hearing a hooded jumper during Canberra’s ‘witch teet’ winters? Almost every jumper I own is hooded and I’m one of the nicest people you’d ever meet! (how’s that for flagrant self advocacy!)

Early 20’s wearing a dark hoodie… Congratulations, you’ve just whittled it down to… hmm, let’s say, 20% of the youth population of Canberra?

I’m glad I live with sensible rational people like yourself looking out for the greater good of the community.

I thought that the editor of this website is a hoodie wearer himself?

People should really get over the whole “Oh my goodness, they’re wearing clothes that I wouldn’t have every worn when I was a young lad” BS.

Umm…maybe they were just describing what the person was wearing so that if someone else saw a bloke that fitted the description in that area they might be a little more alert. They didn’t launch into a diatribe about the evils of hoodies ( which I will – hoodies and hoodie wearers are evil incarnate). They didn’t imply, as you say, that the clothing wasn’t acceptable because they didn’t wear it in their day. They just gave a description. Get over it.
And, while like you I’m trolling, I advocate the public flaying of anyone caught in a Hoodie however I know that’s been discussed on this board in the past.

Where did this incident occur exactly? At the creek? The description of the incident is quite vague. What time did it happen?

What a coward, another one on drugs

Gosh.

You worked out that the alleged assailant was on drugs from this post?

Your psychic powers of deduction are wasted in this forum – there are so many unsolved crimes in our community.

Hasten to the irrationamobile.

I always walk around this area with my dog and have never seen anything like this before. Why would you run past and punch someone? What kind of dog did he have? – This is just so I can keep an eye out and let my wife know.

I witnessed a bad assult at the Hyperdome last week, blood everywhere and one guy had his hair ripped out.

Seems there are plenty of nuff nuffs in this town

Early 20’s wearing a hoodie doesn’t give us much to go for. Unless we legislate compulsory euthanasia for all hoodie wearers, which would immediately result in a drop in the crime rate of some 99.99%.
