A funny spoof on the new “Australia” flick on ABC Stateline.[skip to 9min:17sec]

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who thinks the pollies in Canberra are like the Living Dead… ”

After Canberra placed last in a survey of popular holiday destinations, Stateline asked two local production companies to come up with a pitch to promote the capital.”

UPDATE: The one of these we put out the call for extras on is available at BearCage.

@Sammy – I think the term is ‘Satire’ – its even stated clearly on the Bearcage page: “With tongue half in cheek and twenty-four hours to produce and deliver a commercial”. To use the vernacular; a piss-take Stateline wants, a piss-take Stateline gets.

Anyway, for comparison’s sake, Bearcage will produce commerical work and will use a commercial means of getting visitors to Canberra; Silversun seems to be pushing along the film path.

Apples, oranges, something…

Actually, on reflection (I watched these live on Stateline last Friday) and second viewing (via the links above) the Bearcage one is pretty good, but the Silversun one is still pissweak.

The Bearcage version is what you’d expect from a professional production house that does just this sort of stuff, whereas the Silversun version is just a total piss-take.

I thought they were both pissweak.

I like the bearcage version, it’s something I could actually see as an ad for Canberra, I’m a little so so on the Silversun version. It didn’t really say Canberra to me, it was more a trailer for a movie with some backgrounds changed.

They are both fantastic.
Having lived in Canberra my whole life I can appreciate the funny side of it.

Will these be available anywhere else on the web?

You can see the Bearcage one here: Canberra — it’s not for everyone

“Canberra has very real appeal — but only for certain sectors of the population. “

(Disclaimer: I have a business connection with Bearcage).

Ed:
No, it was the other one RiotACT had the recruitment for.

On http://the-riotact.com/?p=9547 twas Bearcage who called for surfies, family, bushwalkers, and schoolies.
Nowt about zombies, because the zombie ad (by Silversun) is nothing but a lot of editing and production work. Nice editing though, guys.
